Like all breed clubs the Japanese Akita Inu Club is responsible for establishing judging lists of individuals qualified to judge the breed.

The Club holds a hands-on seminar to meet the needs of people wanting to become a judge for the breed. There are minimum requirements for inclusion on the various judging lists, which preclude a complete online application process. The committee member responsible for maintenance of the judging lists, and for setting dates for seminars is Cherry Wilkinson. Cherry can be reached by mail -
